Curriculum
Zion Lutheran School is committed to a rigorous curriculum that challenges each individual student. Ask any educator, and you’ll hear that every single child brings a unique learning style to the classroom. At ZLS, we know children develop different skills at different times, and it is very important to us to meet them where they are and to help prepare them to be successful for the rest of their lives.
Spiritually, we nurture the Christian faith from a Lutheran perspective and enjoy activities that include daily classroom prayer, Bible readings and religion classes (Jesus time for our littlest Lions), as well as school wide chapel services, Faith Family formation and devotions.
Technology is integrated into our daily work at Zion. We are 1:1 with iPads, and as a Google for Education School, we are 1:1 with Chromebooks for all 5th-8th graders. We have additional computer resources available to offer Chromebooks for 2-4th grade as well when needed and appropriate.
All ZLS students receive instruction in core subjects such as math, reading, and English. We also offer science, social studies, literature, as well as certain electives for middle school and junior high.
Subject matter experiences and instructional activities vary from grade level to grade level. We use Concordia Publishing House for religion, McGraw Hill for science and social studies, Into Math (Common Core) and Shurley English curriculums.
