The Seaman Family
Our son began attending Zion in fifth grade and although he was the “new kid” the Zion community immediately demonstrated Christian values as he was welcomed warmly by students, teachers, and administrators.
As parents, we are impressed by the cohesive curriculum that is aligned across lessons and subject areas designed to provide depth, spark curiosity, and awake creative thinking. Our son enjoys school, lots of sports teams that have kept him physically fit, genuine friendships with classmates, and positive relationships with caring adults all while growing intellectually, spiritually, and emotionally.
I only wish we would have started sooner.
The Harper Family
There’s a saying that “it takes a village to raise a child”! As a retired military family, we were well aware of our need for a dependable support system.
Faith, family, and friends sums up how we live our lives and with Zion we discovered that we had been led to an educational institution in support of our values rooted in Christ. Immediately after our very first tour of the grounds, we determined that we had found our village.
Zion has a stellar educational platform, with well-versed teachers that have hearts to serve God and who grace our children daily with His teachings. The staff’s concerns were not only directed towards our children’ s educational aspirations, but also to their social and emotional growth. This was refreshing and is directly in line with the whole person concept that we are instilling in our children.
From the administrative staff, to the janitorial, lunch and aftercare support teams, our expectations of excellence were met as evident from every aspect of service. We love our Zion family and are blessed to be called Zion Lions.

The Roderick Family! Dad, Joe, mom, Nicole and son, Hudson
We chose Zion back in 2017 when looking for a preK for our son. It was important to us that he receives a Christian education in a loving environment. The love and education he has been given these past 5 years at Zion is more than we could have imagined.
The small class sizes are a huge plus, and we feel it allows the teachers to focus on each individual student to give them the attention they deserve. Staff work together to really cultivate a love for learning in an encouraging environment. As a mom, it was important to me to be able to feel included in the school, and with so many volunteer opportunities here it makes me feel like I’m part of a much bigger family.
As our son grows at Zion he has a wide range of sports and activities to choose from which will add to his positive experience at Zion. We love that our son not only is able to gain knowledge in the classroom, but he is also able to grow in faith and learn kindness and respect for others. We have loved watching him create close friendships and build a relationship with Christ here at Zion.

2. Extracurricular offerings including sports, choir, and chess club
3. Religious education and weekly chapel visits
4. Opportunities for parents to volunteer including lunchroom, library, and holiday programs
Kristi Edwards and her daughter, Kinsley
I chose Zion for my daughter because I wanted her to follow in my footsteps, I too was a Zion student. I wanted her to be in a school environment that was loving, caring and safe; a school that is Christ centered and committed to planting and nurturing a Christian lifestyle.
I wanted Kinsley to grow in a school family with peers and a close knit group of outstanding educators who will help shape her life in education and the love of Christ.
Kinsley’s faith and love has already grown in the few years that she has been at Zion and I am excited to watch that continue to grow over the next years to come.
Lynae (Mathews) Hoercher, Teacher at Zion and Alum
“My name is Lynae Hoercher and my Zion story is very special to me. I grew up going to Zion Church where every Sunday was a family affair. My grandparents, aunt and uncle, cousins and my immediate family have all attended church at Zion and/or went to school here. In 2018, I was blessed with the opportunity to return to Zion and teach fourth grade in the same classroom I had 4th grade! Returning to Zion felt like I was coming home. I love this school and the feeling of family you get by being a part of it.”
Tricia Burge – mom of current Zion Lion and one ZLS alum
“Our family chose Zion Lutheran School because of its long history of providing a high quality, affordable education coupled with a Christ-centered approach to teaching not just an engaging and challenging curriculum, but also wholly dedicated to reinforcing strong morals and values. And we could not be more pleased with our choice. While certainly a solid foundation for any child begins at home, the lessons our children have learned at Zion will guide them for a lifetime.”
Crystal Dallas – mom of two Zion Lions
“Our children’s education is very important to us. We wanted a school that would nurture their mind, body and spirit. Before visiting Zion Lutheran School, we conducted extensive research and visited several other area schools. We attended an open house event at Zion Lutheran School and there was just a feeling of belonging. Everyone was so welcoming, and we truly felt that we had found the “right place” for our children. At Zion, we know our children are receiving an excellent education while growing in their faith and love of God every day. Our children are thriving academically and socially in the loving environment of Zion. We highly recommend Zion for families looking to develop well-rounded, creative, and kind humans.”
Kelly Skaff, mom of five Zion Lions and one alum
“When our oldest child was starting Kindergarten, we chose Zion for the small class sizes. At that time, we had no idea we were also becoming part of a wonderful community. Zion has given our children challenging academics, the opportunity to play team sports, a great music program including band, choir, and private music lessons, and enriching opportunities for public speaking through plays and leading chapel. Most importantly, Zion has helped our children build a strong faith foundation. The Zion teachers and staff know each of our kids as individuals, and they care deeply about helping each child grow in their faith and love of Jesus Christ. Zion has done a wonderful job preparing our children both academically and spiritually for high school and beyond. Zion is family to us.”
Jennika Denery, mom of one Zion Lion
“We are so thankful to be part of Zion! We chose Zion because the peace of our child is our top priority, and Zion brings solid education with foundational truth which encourages peace in her life and the lives of all Zion students. Our experience with Zion has been above par in every way and we have felt welcomed and listened to by every member of the staff and faculty. Our child has peace and has fun learning and connecting with all the other students, as well as the staff. They all know her by name. And because of the standard of excellence in education and faith, we also have peace sending her to school every day.”
Lance and Michelle Rensing, family with two Zion Lions
“Our family moved from Florida and a small charter school to Belleville and a year of public school. Public school was not conducive to our son’s learning style or challenge level. Our niece attended Zion from preschool through 8th grade and had nothing but positive things to say about attending Zion. We chose Zion after we toured the school with our son and talked with teachers and students. We have another student in Zion’s preschool and are very satisfied with the level of education and support our children receive in a Lutheran Christian setting. We definitely recommend Zion for a wonderful, Christian-based education!”
Ryan & Becky Bertram
“We chose Zion because we wanted our kids to go to a school where they would be encouraged to grow in their relationship with God, and where each of our three children could receive a unique education, tailored to their individual needs. Now in our fourth year as Zion parents, we are thankful on a daily basis for the personal care and love that Zion’s teachers and staff pour out on our children, and we are blessed to be a part of the larger Zion family.”
