Reading Lab
Zion Lutheran School’s innovative Reading Lab provides leveled, guided reading instruction to all of our kindergarten through 2nd-grade students.
With a 6:1 student to teacher ratio, students receive leveled reading instruction four times a week. During this time, essential strategies that make up a skilled reader such as word work, comprehension, high-frequency words, book discussion, familiar reading, and writing are addressed.
The beauty of this program is that a variety of reading levels can be addressed at the same time providing the individualized challenges that each student needs. Our reading lab groups are fluid and are changed to meet the needs of each reader.
Our goal in targeting the early stages of becoming a reader is that we are creating lifelong readers in the process.
