Faith Families
We value a strong sense of community across all grade levels and staff at ZLS. To build community and create additional opportunities for spiritual growth, each student in grades K-8 is placed in a mixed-age Faith Family during their time at Zion. Younger students form lasting relationships with the older students who have the opportunity to practice responsibility and leadership as they teach and model behavior within their Faith Family. Each Faith Family is led by a Zion staff member.
Chapel
- Faith Families sit together at chapel every week.
- Older students (6-8) are paired up with younger students (K-1) within their faith families to pick them up from their classrooms, escort them to chapel, and take them back to classrooms.
Spiritual Growth
- Each month, Faith Families meet in their leaders’ classrooms to learn about the chapel theme focus or the character trait for the month
- 30 minutes sessions are planned by staff members but led by our 8th graders who practice the lesson prior to the Faith Family meeting
Christmas Activity
- Faith families meet to enjoy lunch together and complete a Christmas project or activity together
NLSW (National Lutheran Schools’ Week)
- Faith Families form teams that work together to complete fun activities, games, art projects, and service projects
