Technology
Technology integration has been an integral part of our school strategic plan as we plan, adjust and adapt to the ever-changing world of technological advances.
We support the integration of appropriate technology into classrooms to better serve our faculty and students and our school has made significant upgrades in the recent past. Examples of this include going 1:1 with Chromebooks for all 5th-8th grade, Smartboard technology in each classroom, including preschool, and Ipads that are readily available when needed for all grade levels.
Additionally, we have a full-time teacher on staff who teaches a 30-minute special technology class for all students once a week. The class is done in our computer lab and lessons include typing, using a keyboard and mouse for some of our younger students, as well as website design, coding and more for upper grades.
We are a Google for Education school and utilize the Google platform for learning, whether in person or remote.
At ZLS, we understand the need for technology, but also work to find a good balance on a daily basis for our students. Nothing takes place of connection with each other and learning through play and hands-on lessons. Our goal is to continue to evaluate, invest and make available the appropriate and most meaningful technology for our students.
