NASA Scientist Visits with ZLS Students
Ms. Susan Gorton, a 22-year NASA Scientist, visited with our 6-8th graders on Thursday, Feb. 11 to talk about her role in the design of Ingenuity – the first helicopter attempting to fly on another planet.
The helicopter is attached to the Mars Rover Perseverance, which is expected to land on Mars next week, Feb. 18.
Ms. Gorton spoke to our students about the process of production process – from draft to conception – of the first aircraft with the capabilities to survive on another planet.
If Ingenuity succeeds, future Mars exploration could include an ambitious aerial dimension.
