Zion’s Summer Program will open on Monday, June 15th.
If you are interested in using the summer program, please read the letter below with regards to what our camp will look and feel like for this summer.
Many things had to be adjusted to meet guidelines and requirements for COVID-19.
A few highlights for you:
1. Camp hours will be from 8am-5pm. This adjustment limits the number of workers your child will come into contact with each day.
2. All participants must be registered through our Registration Form.

3. Space is limited per age grouping. We must follow the 10-person group limit while Illinois is in “Phase 3”. Complete the above registration form as soon as possible to assist us with participant groupings and staffing.
If you had registered for the summer program and are no longer in need of this service, please contact Rene Owens (summerprogram@zionschoolbelleville.org) to let her know.

A drive-thru 8th grade graduation celebration and our graduation service for the Class of 2020. We are so very proud of you and all your accomplishments. God has great things planned for each and every one of our graduates. Best wishes for the future. You will forever be a Zion Lion!

Some of our students at Zion Lutheran School have some special words of wisdom for our Class of 2020. As you look to the bright future ahead of you, here is some advice from kindergartners and first graders. We’ll miss you all! God bless our 8th grade graduates.

While we may not be together in person, our families and students are never far, always in our hearts, on our minds and in our prayers. With the news of the schools closing for the remainder of the year, we have a special message from Mrs. Baron, principal, regarding the dedication and determination to finish our year strong. We put our faith in the Lord, our only hope.

Let’s take a moment to say a special thank you and honor Zion Lutheran School fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers and friends in their tireless work to keep us safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic and every day of our lives. To all the people on the front lines, we appreciate you so.

We sure do miss our students and staff. Here are a few notes to tell you all just how much you are loved and missed!

Registration for the Summer Program at Zion Lutheran School is now open.
At our school, we offer a fun, educational and entertaining summer program where children are cared for in a loving environment. Summer is quickly approaching and plans are being made for an enjoyable summer program here on the Zion campus.
If you have any questions, please contact Rene’ Owens or Dan Griffith at summerprogram@zionschoolbelleville.org

During this pandemic, the teachers and staff at ZLS have continued to provide quality education and care for its students through e-learning. Complete with daily devotions, Zoom calls and continued rigourous curriculum, our students were connected and learning, just from a distance. When Illinois Governor JB Pritzker announced that all Illinois schools, preschool through 12th grade, will stay closed for the remainder of the school year, it brought on a wave of emotions.

But, we remember that God is good – all the time, and we pray that our eyes are opened to His blessings and His goodness even when our circumstances are not what we desire.
As the 2019-20 school year comes to an end, we thank all of our families for the support and prayers. We’ll forever be bonded through this experience, and we look forward to seeing you again back on campus in the fall.

Early Registration deadline extended– We recognize that the circumstances in our country and world could be creating extra physical, emotional, and financial stress for our families. To that end, Zion is extended the early registration fee deadline through the end of June. Any current registration fee contracts in Blackbaud unpaid by March 31st will be deleted and reissued for the same early registration fee amount. We are asking that you complete the first step in re-enrollment as soon as possible to help Zion Church and School determine staffing needs for 2020-2021, and we are hoping the extension of the registration payment will encourage you to do so.

We are staying vigilant in prayer for all our Zion families and people of the world, as you make adjustments to your schedules and lives. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good for those who are called according to His purpose”. Put your trust and hope in the Lord.

A letter to our K-8 parents regarding Grandparents’ Day and the current state of the world regarding viruses and illness.
Dear K-8 parents,
Here at Zion Lutheran School, we have seen a number of notices from a number of organizations who are canceling or postponing large group events to try to prevent the spread of viruses and illnesses. No doubt you have seen some notices, too.
Because the threat to our area is low at this time, we have decided to carry on with our grandparents’ day events. We had 130 grandparents visit our campus for preschool grandparents’ day today, so we plan to have our K-8 grandparents’ day tomorrow.
We understand that many of our visitors tomorrow may not be comfortable being around large groups of grandparents and K-8 students. If your family would feel more comfortable keeping your children and grandparents at home tomorrow, we encourage you to do so, and Zion will not count students as absent tomorrow as there are no major academic subjects taught during grandparents’ day, and it is an early dimissal day.
Since purchases for food have already been made by our kitchen, we will issue lunch refunds on request only. Please submit your requests to zionoffice@zionschoolbelleville.org and allow us some time to get those refunds back to your families as next week we will be preparing for our school auction (which for now is still being held as scheduled).
As a church and school, we lift up all those in prayer who are affected and afflicted by illness and the effects that have followed. I also encourage you to reflect on our theme verse for this year – 2 Timothy 1:6-7, “For this reason, I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God that is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God gave us a spirit, not of fear, but of power, love and self-control.” May God’s peace be with you and your families.
In His Service,
Mrs. Ananda Baron, principal
